Wanderers
03:57
|
|||
Forgotten days, rusty keys
Grey and dusty windows
A broken door locked
And left long behind
A legend out of fashion
Left out in the cold
Lost along the barren wastes of time
Needing a new face to bring it back to life
A fairie tale, an elvish song
Passed out of human memory
A story hushed
And left along the way
But fairie tales are living things
That never have an ending
An open door can be walked through both ways
Every tale has something left to say
Time is not a heartbeat
It’s a never-ending dance
As gods and monsters sail across the sky
It moves the feet of everything
All life and death entranced
Watch them journey on across the night
And everywhere the story’s left behind
A fairie tale, an elvish song
Passed out of human memory
A story hushed
And left along the way
But fairie tales are living things
That never have an ending
An open door can be walked through both ways
Every tale has something left to say
Sacred broken fantasies
But how can you say goodbye
To something that was never meant to die
The stars become the messengers
And when those stars fall down
They echo all the stories in their care
The boys and girls who catch them
Become the bards and minstrels
Who spread the stories out for all to share
But listen close or you’ll never hear them there
A fairie tale, an elvish song
Passed out of human memory
A story hushed
And left along the way
But fairie tales are living things
That never have an ending
An open door can be walked through both ways
Every tale has something left to say

Catnyp
03:17
|
|||
We all know the lion statues
Of the library
Protectors of the knowledge held inside
But if you scratch the right one
Just behind the ear
Blue eyes show you where the secrets lie
Catnyp came to life one night
Along with all the Pages
Paper dolls with flat and inky smiles
The Pages bring the books to you
Day and night, two by two
But Catnyp tells the mice just what to find…
Battles or Biography
Muggles or geography
Step just right and you will see
A cat caught in a library
Waterfalls of history
Of truth and archeology
Of magic and of mystery
The Hidden Library….
In the windows you’ll see lantern light
Drifting through the night
For midnight is the busiest of hours
The Fair folk are calling books
Of Life and death and dreaming
And the love that every blackened heart desires
Catnyp is the search engine,
The stone card catalog
And his results come out as mice and rooks
And if you find the right one
The mice will tell you stories
Of everyone who’s ever held their book.
Battles or Biography
Muggles or geography
Step just right and you will see
A cat caught in a library
Waterfalls of history
Of truth and archeology
Of magic and of mystery
The Hidden Library….
Goblins in the Reading Room
Mint grows in the rugs
Salamanders in the lamps
Pixies keep the coffee mugs
Dwarven maidens make the tea
And make the garden grow
But Catnyp keeps the naughty ones
Frozen faces all in a row
As Pages fly the stacks hum softly
Songs long forgot
And to their voices Catnyp always smiles
For when no one is looking,
He prowls into their keep
To preen and purr and join their song a while
Slip through the cracks, behind a door
Or backwards through an archway
And bring along a treat fit for a cat
Mind your manners, and quiet, please
And never go into the stacks
Or you might find yourself scolded by a magic marble cat….
Battles or Biography
Muggles or geography
Step just right and you will see
A cat caught in a library
Waterfalls of history
Of truth and archeology
Of magic and of mystery
The Hidden Library….

A Song About Fog
02:06
|
|||
The songs it brings, the stories it carries
Through the dark pearls of night and the star of day
Bring forth thy prize, oh traveling old one
To carry my song far and wide
The footfalls of those who travel through ages
Scattered dreams drifting in on the traveling veil
The world washed away, leaving only their memories
But Old One, you whisper their tale
You take up my hand for to wander a while
Coming to understand in each story we tell
You breathe down the road, a silvery ocean
Now I too am so lovingly held
Transforming all things, both known and forgotten
To all that once was and to all that shall be
Come rolling and still, come fast on the west wind,
With time as your company
Come rolling and still, come fast on the west wind
With time as your company

The Weaving
04:37
|
|||
Sunlight glistens in the morning
Stretched across the shadowy path
Fragile tethers spinning outward
Strong enough to brave the wind and rain
Weave them together (We are Children of the moonlight)
Weave them together (Dancing to the fire)
Weave them together (We are singers of the rain)
Bring them together (Together)
Holding on to learn to fly (Beneath the gaze of sorrow)
Digging in to stand my ground (Courage fleeting in the night)
Sisters of water dancing (Dancing on the riverside)
Brothers of fire sing (sing)
Weave them together (We are Children of the moonlight)
Weave them together (Dancing to the fire)
Weave them together (We are singers of the rain)
Bring them together (Together)
Misty hours of dreaming (dreaming)
Washes over green and gold (Gold and silver drift away)
Being the dance and the dancer (Bring the morning onward)
One shining moment to hold (To hold for all of us)
Tracing the rivers of twilight
The stars swim in black and blue
Rolling light that cannot warm
All the old flowing new
Weave them together (We are Children of the moonlight)
Weave them together (Dancing to the fire)
Weave them together (We are singers of the rain)
Bring them together (Together)

Haunted
03:08
|
|||
I heard the ghost of your voice today
Whispering words you used to say
I heard your step upon the stair
A tiny glimpse of what was there
Haunted, Haunted
My home is haunted
Haunted, Haunted
Ghosts in the corner of my eye
I saw a show I watched with you
Maybe you were watching too
I heard a word, I saw a spark
Is that you calling from the dark
Haunted, Haunted
My home is haunted
Haunted, Haunted
Ghosts in the corner of my eye
Living with a shadow
Watch it fade away
Finding the ghost inside your eyes
Gets harder every day
It's hard living with your ghost
When talking to you I miss you the most
Years stole the person I knew
I know that you're not you
Haunted, Haunted
My home is haunted
Haunted, Haunted
Ghosts in the corner of my eye

The Narrow Way
02:20
|
|||
I watch the rats as they run by
I follow the sound as voices cry
Men, women, young and old
Trying to escape the cold
The narrow way, no longer flat
Drifting down to pull me back
The cold it licks my every step
Doesn’t matter how far I get
The longest night
That’s ever been
The Narrow Way
It pulls you in
The floor it rises, I try to climb
The ceiling cracks, I’m out of time
The walls they tilt as I start to slip
The darkness creeps as I lose my grip
My legs can’t move the water so high
The lights let go and so do I
The darkness holds me deep and still
Down ‘til I don’t feel the chill
No light, no air
No time, no sound
We’re going down
Into the Narrow Way

Single White Monster
02:27
|
|||
I've waited here long
for someone to find me
Hidden away in this
maze of my own
They called me a monster
and set chains to bind me
Then left me to rot here alone
I'm waiting for rescue
I'm waiting for company
I'm waiting for someone
to come without a sword
Sure I have slain those
who raised arms against me
But, really? Mostly I'm bored
I like long conversations
and walks in the moonlight
Or I would
if I could see the moon
Come sometime tomorrow
or any day's alright
As long as you're coming by soon
I'm looking for friends
I'm looking for lovers
I'm looking for someone
who just wants to talk
I'm a bit out of touch
stuck here in this labyrinth
But maybe we could take a walk?
Single white monster
seeks friend or companion
Someone to help pass the time
I really don't care
how much money you earn
In this maze I can't spend a dime
I'll send you a note
from the labyrinth I'm guarding
Remember your string
but it's safe to come in
If you can find me
and look past the horns
I've plenty of treasure to win
I'm sending a message
I'm sending a plea
I'm sending a return address
I'm not all that hopeful
with all that I've seen
But maybe someone will say yes

The Witch In Your Story
02:26
|
|||
You come looking for answers
Someone to revere or to blame
Someone to send you to what happens next
To the crown or to the flame
I'll be the witch in your story
I'll be the bad guy and the good one too
I'll set a quest and make you see it through
and reward you when you return
It's hard to fight all the demons
When you know this might be the wrong road
But you can do a hell of a lot
To avoid becoming a toad
Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
Take this one who's seeing double
Offer him a way
I'll be the wicked stepmom
Force you from your safe place
The witch is the one who moves the story
With curses or with grace
Eye of newt and tongue of bat
Hair of dog and claw of cat
Just forget about all that
And take this tea along
I'll be the witch in your story
I'll be the bad guy and the good one too
I'll set a quest and make you see it through
and reward you when you return
and reward you when you return

Disenchanted
02:56
|
|||
A blessing or a curse of golden hair
I never wanted
A golden stair you asked for
Every single day
You locked me in here
But you couldn’t take the moonlight
And now I’m cutting loose to find
All the things that you never taught me
You can keep my hair
I don’t need it to feel pretty
You can keep my tower
I don’t need it to be strong
I’m racing out to find the place
where the sun and the moon
Have coffee when you can’t see
either one at all
I’ve tied the only thing
you loved about me to the window
I’m down and gone and
leaving all I know behind
I hitched a ride
on a story all my own
And when the sun comes up
Never been so happy to be blinded
So I’ll keep running
Until I find an ocean
Then hop a ship and find
what’s on the other side
I’ll race any dream
I find along the way
I’ll never know what might have been
But that’s all right
So many years
spent silent and afraid
But my wings are on the open road
And I’m learning how to soar
I never asked to be your precious
Princess, pet, or puppet
Call me selfish, call me immature
And call me vain
I’ll never stop until
I hit that far horizon
Even if I never make it
The ride is worth the price I pay so…
You can keep my hair
I don’t need it to feel pretty
You can keep my tower
I don’t need it to be strong
I’m racing out to find the place
where the sun and the moon
Have coffee when you can’t see
either one at all
I’m running with both arms open
to what comes my way
I just can’t stop
And I don’t ever want to try
I broke the skin and found the colors
Beyond black and white
And I no longer care if you get mad
Cause I’m chasing down the morning
And into the world I fall
Having coffee with the Sun and Moon
and never looking back at all

Snow White, Red Road
04:14
|
|||
The queen would have her head
For she could not have her power
But the queen would keep the crown all the same
A child lighting candles
with a touch and a thought
Followed when the winds called her name
Her courage as dry
As the leaves beneath her feet
No princes, just seven new friends
They ask, “You would wander
In this place of winter roses
in a realm that your Will can bend?
“Innocence is never white, little witchling
It’s black and shining as raven eyes
White is for fire,
Red is for sacrifice.”
And so they took her hand and showed her why
The Castle is on fire tonight
With no one to rescue, the prince is gone
The mirror is broken, the pieces grow cold
The fairest one has gone
Seven dwarves, seven teachers
A glass coffin’s just a cage
For nothing heals until it bleeds
Seven voices
refuse to keep her tame
A poisoned apple is just another lie (to leave)
A mirror left alone
in empty chambers
Cracked and let a piece fall away
She keeps the shard safe
And tucked away beside her nightshade
As a legacy that nothing stays the same
The Castle is on fire tonight
With no one to rescue, the prince is gone
The mirror is broken, the pieces grow cold
The fairest one has gone
She cannot be a princess when she’s living
She cannot be a queen when she’s dead
And in between she’s just a girl
There’s no such thing as just a girl…
The castle walls have crumbled
But the garden still lives
And sunset is her favorite harvest time
She tends to the lily
And the rose and the bittersweet
But smiles as the belladonna shines
Blackthorn wand in her hand
Wolfsbane in her hair
Magic is the only love she knows
A pretty poison all her own
And in her wake is a rusty throne
The queen is dead - Long live the Snow!
The Castle is on fire tonight
With no one to rescue, the prince is gone
The mirror is broken, the pieces grow cold
The fairest one has gone
The Castle is on fire tonight
With no one to rescue, the prince is gone
The mirror is broken, the pieces grow cold
At last, the fairest has won!

Village By The Sea
02:49
|
|||
Do you see that brick on the shelf
Leave it alone, don't touch it
That brick is full of stories, smoke and booze
It's from the manor when it fell
If it figures out it's missing
Something might try to wriggle loose
In the village by the sea
You won't see it till you live here
And by then it will see you first
In the village by the sea
We're all a little mad here
But we promise you the sane ones are the worst
Try the tiny beach at sunset
That's next to the old factory
It's always done me right when I've gone wrong
It's a tiny piece of nowhere
In the center of the city
If someone's lost they'll get there before long
In the village by the sea
We're missing a few pieces
But others get thrown in along the way
In the village by the sea
You don't find what you're looking for
But something else will find you at the bay
Don't chip the paint off the rock outside the city
You don't want to know what's underneath
The girls on the streets downtown look very pretty
But don't look too closely at the teeth
If you still want to move here
don't say I didn't warn you
Once you're here you're in this town to stay
The rain gets into your blood
The trees will grab and hold you
And you'll find that you like living here this way
In the village by the sea
You won't see it till you live here
And by then it will see you first
In the village by the sea
We're all a little mad here
But we promise you the sane ones are the worst
But we promise you the sane ones are the worst

When you walk into a con hotel
Or a comic book store
There’s art and plot and figurines
And geekery galore
You try to take it in
Cause there’s so much to see and do
But you better move aside
Cause there’s a geek girl coming through!
I know more about Dune than you
Sarcastic, almost crass
Walking ‘round con in a corset
Doesn’t mean that I won’t kick your ass
It means that I’m a geek girl
A brown coat, thru and thru
I’m a Whovian, a Trekie and a
Klezmer filker, too!
Our steampunk guns all started out
As phasers long ago
BA in Anthropology
And I’m good at saving throws
We hold ritual with sonic
screwdrivers instead of wands
Then afterward watch
Battlestar Galactica ‘til dawn
I collect stripey knee socks
And I’m a furrie, yes it’s true
But panda ears won’t save you
When I make things go BOOM!!
Because I’m a geek girl
and I don’t need to be saved
With my companion cube in hand
I aim to misbehave!
I’m as delicate and fragile
As a porcupine in heat
And if Magic is your game of choice
Prepare for your defeat
I’ve got Life of Brian memorized
And every song from Buffy
And about the plush Cthulhu
Well...I can’t help it! He’s so FLUFFY!
So if you see me coming, ladies
Come join me in my quest
To show the geek boys that we’ve got
What it takes to pass the test
Because we’ve been here watching
Fangirls across the world
And when we do take over
You’ll be ruled by GEEK GIRLS!!

Jackdaw, magpie, raven, crow
Living in the places where the shadows go
Jackdaw, magpie, raven, crow
Living in the places where the shadows go
Yeah, I’m a real night-crawler come out in the day
Watching up and down the road for my next meal
Roadkill will do just fine
Or a mouse that the cat couldn’t find
Cause I’m a real tough cookie with a story on my back
I gotta certain something and a quip for every quill
Hold still, and you just might
Catch me on my next flight
Won’t you come and join me for a dance, my dear?
And learn a trick or two along the way
Never be afraid to let your voice be heard
We’ll dance your fear of flying right away
(What goes up must come down, but getting up there’s half the fun)
Jackdaw, magpie, raven, crow
Living in the places where the shadows go
In a world where anything can be thrown away
I got my pick of the litter
Pick it out, pick it up, take it away
Sweet talk and a squawk in every work I say
Oh brother, won’t you come out and play
Murder’s not a dirty word where I’m from
I hold space for shadows, spinning yarns in mid air
Here kitty kitty with a few lives to spare
Doesn’t mean you wanna take me on for that mouse right there…
(Fuzzball never knew what hit him…)
Jackdaw, magpie, raven, crow
Living in the places where the shadows go
So in the early mornin’ when the fog’s rollin’ in
Keep an eye on the treetops, cause if I’m sittin’ in
You’ll know that it’s just another night on the town
For a winged scrounger who sure gets around
Won’t you come and join me for a dance, my dear?
And learn a trick or two along the way
Never be afraid to let your voice be heard
We’ll dance your fear of flying right away
(Come on up and see me sometime and stay for a squawk…)
Jackdaw, magpie, raven, crow
Living in the places where the shadows go
Jackdaw, magpie, raven, crow
Living in the places where the shadows go

Sleep No More

Sleep No More
I can’t remember a time
When life wasn’t this way
In a wood with three faeries, but a demon
stole my world away
I remember the things that they taught me
For 16 long years
So I take up my staff and
my vengeance to a mountain
Without fear…
For I say No
I’ll sleep no more
I am no Rose Am
I’m only the thorn
A dragon, frozen in amber
A child’s first chance
A demon is shaken, and taken
In a three-fold dance
Green, red, and blue
I choose to be free
To let go a kingdom
That thought it knew my story
But I say No
I’ll sleep no more
I am no Rose
I’m only the thorn
An owl on my shoulder
To show me how to fly
I’ve stormed the walls from within
I will not be denied
The storm has subsided
By the thunder won’t leave me alone
It rolls in my footsteps,
Holding fast to my rage as I roam
I know what I am now,
Touched by each of nine worlds
But I hold to their vision
Of a cottage, 3 faeries
And one not-so-little girl…
And I know you were the ones
Who never let go
And I was your dream
Your own Briar Rose
But I say No
I’ll sleep no more
I am no Rose
I’m only the thorn
But I say No
I’ll sleep no more
I am no Rose
I’m only the thorn
