Purple skies, yellow flower Riding butterflies for hours Golden eagles show the way To where the fox-bear children play Solving puzzles, burning candles Play the strings of time Take the key, climb the tree Child, know your rhyme Art will shield your eggshell heart Let it feed your soul The dark will bite, the night will pounce Imperfect can still make you whole Make your mark, hot blood dark For your hand time will bend Ring the chime, just in time The journey has no end Turn thrice round, don’t look down Step by step you’ll find The path is made of lilac wishes Leave your sword behind And the moon, smiling low Blows on like a windy tide Fox-bear child, know your rhyme

The moonlight it was dancing cross the path onto the stones A light burned warm and calling to a place I did not know It burned a dozen colors it’s soft light held a song A voice I knew and yet did not “Our love’s what makes us strong” Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Never let the light die Never let the light die The sharp wind wrapped around me as I huddled against the cold And listened to this voice that I’d never heard before The edge of light held teeth against the unknown cold It held back all I could not see and all I did not know Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Never let the light die Never let the light die The voice held no time, it held no age, it held no will One voice became a choir across the evening still My mind was thrown across the dark to places voices filled Voices raised in anger confusion and ill will Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Never let the light die Never let the light die Though the battles rage around us and be they lost or won The truth burns within us we are the fire all along No price is too high to sing our final song To raise the flag of peace once more our love’s what makes us strong Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Burn, children, burn! Never let the light die Never let the light die Our love’s what makes us strong Our love’s what makes us strong Our love’s what makes us strong Our love’s what makes us strong Onward! The moonlight it was dancing cross the path onto the stones Our light burns warm and calling to places we do not know We burn a dozen colors our light still holds our song Our voices will carry onward “Our love’s what makes us strong” Our love’s what makes us strong Our love’s what makes us strong Our love’s what makes us strong Listen Listen Listen to the flame

Shadow Moon 02:36
The New Moon has another face That’s very rare to see A face of world’s beyond this Or any dreamt in your philosophy And if you might be ready You may stand and you may see The Shadow Moon turn day to dusk Dark disk with silver wreath Shadow Moon, shadow moon Cast your dark light upon me Take the sunlight from my sight Show me what I need to see Shadow moon, shadow moon Take what must be cut away Steal it into your dark moonlight In your shadow it will stay You shine too bright Without cobalt 14 glasses to see Until you cast your shadow In sweet totality Corona color rainbow shining out across the sky You play across the waking world We hold your light in silence Shadow Moon, shadow moon Cast your dark light upon me Take the sunlight from my sight Show me what I need to see Shadow moon, shadow moon Take what must be cut away Steal it into your dark moonlight In your shadow it will stay Moon to burn the candles black A dozen years til you come back Another path you’ll take Another people you will seek But your lessons we will take Your vision we will carry With us onward on our journeys Recall the day we touched a... Shadow Moon, shadow moon Cast your dark light upon me Take the sunlight from my sight Show me what I need to see Shadow moon, shadow moon Take what must be cut away Steal it into your dark moonlight In your shadow it will sta

The first time I killed a man His name was Caesar, he was a friend But some men just need killin’ And that was the plan Until the director shouted ‘hold!’ And we took our notes as we were told Yes, that was the first time I killed a man When you tread the boards You do what you must do That’s the way of Them Theatre Major blues The second time I killed a man It was Guildenstern & Rosencrantz They were dead, as they always feared The tragedians were a chorus quick Of love and blood and rhetoric The second time I killed a man was weird! When you tread the boards You do what you must do That’s the way of Them Theatre Major blues The last time I killed a man Graduation was on the horizon But the Scottish Play Had me in its grip Floating daggers, off with Macduff Only three murderers makes it tough But at least the last time I killed a man was quick When you tread the boards You do what you must do That’s the way of Them Theatre Major blues Fine Arts ain’t no picnic

You may come in the front door but the back’s the place to be Cause Mamaw’s in the kitchen and there so much to see In her house there are no idle hands she’ll put you to work for sure Cause in Mamaw’s Kitchen there’s always room for more They say that the kitchen is the heart of every home And this one is special it’s the one we call our own No matter how far away our lives may let us roar We’ve still got Mamaw’s kitchen in the kitchen we are home Stepping out the back door to gather what you need Thyme and sage and corriander a pinch of dill weed Making friends with the rolling pin knowing where to stand Learning all the recipes you can only learn by hand They say that the kitchen is the heart of every home And this one is special it’s the one we call our own No matter how far away our lives may let us roar We’ve still got Mamaw’s kitchen in the kitchen we are home Flour as a weapon of mass destruction when it spills Hounds begging for every scrap and mopping at your heels Laughing about the last time we were all gathered here And every time before that peeling back the years She’s still over my shoulder in that kitchen now and then She’s been gone for ages but I remember way back when Hold on to her traditions in every memory And I keep my kitchen in the name of all that she taught me She always said the kitchen is the heart of every home And this old house still filled with her The kitchen’s now my own The back door’s always open so if you feel alone I’ll be in Mamaw’s kitchen in the kitchen we are home

You call me a villain you whisper my name Just because I don’t play that wizard’s game I deal in magic, not illusion and trick Til a house fell on the road of yellow brick Those ruby slippers were meant to be mine But a child was thrown in my way I would not be denied So I cursed her with pride The dark would win this day! Sweet little child, you’re not my concern You’re not from around here, but you will soon learn I will not be jilted, I’ll have what is mine But take cover when the monkeys fly That wizard is one wicked mister Shed not a tear when I lost my sister A farm house fell out of the sky But the white opportunist came fly-ing! A bubble of white just to show her might Stole from my sister, once gone Her plan unrolled, lion and scarecrow And a tin man before the day was done! Those ruby slippers were meant to be mine But a child was thrown in my way I would not be denied So I cursed her with pride The dark would win this day! Sweet little child, you’re not my concern You’re not from around here, but you will soon learn I will not be jilted, I’ll have what is mine But take cover when the monkeys fly I know what I am I am sin with a hat Everyone loves a good witch But it’s so good to be bad Emerald tears still melt my heart But a gambit was headed my way So I’ll warn you, she’ll drop a house on you, too! If Glinda thinks theres something to gain Beauty and danger go hand in hand The north wind is not what she seems She was the one to win in the end No witches, no wizard, just she! Those ruby slippers were meant to be mine But a child was thrown in my way I would not be denied So I cursed her with pride The dark would win this day! Sweet little child, you’re not my concern You’re not from around here, but you’ll soon learn I will not be jilted, I’ll have what is mine But take cover when the monkeys fly Yes take cover when the monkeys fly

Down on the shores in the laughter of Selkies Find the hidden pieces of the sea kept well by sweet kelpies It may cost you the voice you had at thirteen If may cost you the fire of the next ten words you breathe The price is always high enough to pay without a thought To touch and see the things you know all man should not Sisters of the tides are we Bound by sand and salt and sea Selkie, mermaid, siren daughters Keepers of the holy waters To be had in the bigger cracks Of the boggy, broken world All wrapped in the torn seal coat Of a savage Selkie girl There’s a place for those who always know the watery way And never let the rocky road keep them from their play Find Kelpie girls and sweet black pearls black sands from Pelee’s heart Treasures of sunken pirates, to shells that tell stories for a start Hold the shell up to your ear and hear a tale of woe Hear the roar of a Kraken’s hurricane or the song of a sirens glow Sisters of the tides are we Bound by sand and salt and sea Selkie, mermaid, siren daughters Keepers of the holy waters To be had in the bigger cracks Of the boggy, broken world All wrapped in the tattered vest Of a sassy kraken girl But not all the maids you’ll find are here to show their wares Some are here for other purpose some fair, and some nefarious So careful now to let your heart be stolen by the sea Or be held by hands or woven bands of her daughters that need to feed Of a maiden or a Selkie gone astray she’s not here to make her way Because like the tide at full moon she’ll never stay Sisters of the tides are we Bound by sand and salt and sea Selkie, mermaid, siren daughters Keepers of the holy waters To be had in the bigger cracks Of the boggy, broken world All wrapped up in the silken scales Of a silvery mermaid in pearls

There are tales of ocean creatures all sailors come to fear How they rise from coral darkness whenever ships draw near If you sail in Mermaid waters take care and bring your best And hold fast to your soul for mermaids will take the rest   Some say the cliffs are red with the blood of sailors bold Some say the reef will grind a ship from its crow’s nest to its hold Faces fine as faeries they bewitch a sailor’s mind They feast upon the flesh of man leaving only bones behind   Few things can chill a sailors heart Like a red sky at morning But there are other fearsome things That come with little warning A ship without a name Brings misfortune like a tide Such that even a red sky at sunset Comes with no delight The Captain stayed on watch the moon cast no light something moved in the water against the current’s might In moments he beheld a face to make a painter blush She asked why the ship has no name she’d never seen one such Said the captain, she’s a fine ship by any name at all Said the mermaid, then our supper will be nameless when it falls The captain called All Hands on deck as deck pitched and hull did creak The mermaids shrieked like demons the sails burst open to catch the breeze Few things can chill a sailors heart Like a red sky at morning But there are other fearsome things That come with little warning A ship without a name Brings misfortune like a tide Such that even a red sky at sunset Comes with no delight The ship was stuck and battered, but she held to sailor’s luck And as she reaches open water the mermaids did give up The captain kept the helm, with his first mate by his side And the ship, though worse for going, sailed off into the night   And so the tale it traveled in mouths of sailors near and far And the ship at last she had a name she’s called the Mermaid’s Scar Few things can chill a sailors heart Like a red sky at morning But there are other fearsome things That come with little warning A ship without a name Brings misfortune like a tide Such that even a red sky at sunset Comes with no delight

Not in Nashville, not in Little Rock but deep in New Orleans All across the quarters there are sights to be seen But one that goes unnoticed a curious curio Are the eyes on every corner that follow as you go Guardians of lonely hearts and children in the quarters They’re never in the same place twice and not much for taking orders But always know the witch queen left something good behind Marie Laveau will let you know ‘this city is still mine!’ Guardians left by Dear Old Queen Marie You’ll see them on the churches quiet in sunlight And you’ll see them on the lampposts staring down in the night Some of them you see and some of them you don’t But all of them have are on the loose even if you never know Guardians of lonely hearts and children in the quarters They’re never in the same place twice and not much for taking orders But always know the witch queen left something good behind Marie Laveau will let you know ‘this city is still mine!’ Guardians left by Dear Old Queen Marie Wings of stone A word is carved In tongues unknown Except by one heart Eyes of red Honor her name May her legend Ever reign Not in Nashville, not in Little Rock but deep in New Orleans All across the quarters there are sights to be seen But one that goes unnoticed a curious curio Are the eyes on every corner the gargoyles always know Guardians of lonely hearts and children in the quarters They’re never in the same place twice and not much for taking orders But always know the witch queen left something good behind Marie Laveau will let you know ‘this city is still mine!’ Guardians left by Dear Old Queen Marie

Darkness holds me close Like an old, old friend But I’ve come to know I must stand on my own The road is long And sometimes I will get burned But I survive and show my scars Proud of all that I’ve earned In my skin are the lessons I have learned Finding fire....in every step on the road Finding fire....in every drop of rain Finding fire....in your every word Finding fire....and rising up again We are the children of the flame, we do not bend Time and tide will cool The heat on my skin Sometimes you have to burn it all and start again I still listen To the voices of the trees Hear the wind, soft Blow the message in the breeze I burn when others falter and I am free Finding fire....in every step on the road Finding fire....in every drop of rain Finding fire....in your every word Finding fire....and rising up again We are the children of the flame, we do not bend Without witness, without reward It’s the life that we must lead Burning the forest To make room for new seedlings I walk in flame But I do not burn alone I hear the footfalls of those Who know well this road We who burn will always know our own Finding fire....in every step on the road Finding fire....in every drop of rain Finding fire....in your every word Finding fire....and rising up again We are the children of the flame, we do not bend Finding fire....in every step on the road Finding fire....in every drop of rain Finding fire....in your every word Finding fire....and rising up again We are the keepers of the flame until the end

Dorothy, what do you say I know that you don’t want to stay But why go home to a place that makes you cry And what is home but a place you call your own Mirrors sometimes lie, but mine can take you past Your cyclone sky Honor all the little girls With worlds set out before them Honor all the fair maids Who never told their story Never settle for silence When there’s always another door Every chance is just a tumble Down another rabbit hole Spinning skies and mirrors Each will carry you away Each one a new door If you know the words to say See a place where no one tells you You have to be the same With a name like yours It’s time you became a hurricane After all the sinning scarecrows, and the lying lions After the all the heartless men Of steel and stone After all the wicked wizards Who swore to take you home After all the faithless fairies, their sins you need not carry Let them go Know that if you stumble You get back up again The only thing you have to fear is Failing to begin I’m only here to tempt you I won’t carry you myself The choice that you must make is all your own But either way, you’ll still be carried away Will you finally take command and take both our lives in both our hands? Honor all the little girls With worlds set out before them Honor all the fair maids Not allowed to tell their story Never settle for silence When there’s always another door Every chance is just a tumble But this time, choose your own rabbit hole Spinning skies and mirrors Each will carry you away Each one a new door If you know the words to say See a place where no one tells you You have to be the same With a name like yours It’s time you became a hurricane

Edgewalker, what will it be, today You who would choose the darker way? You come to learn, from the keeper of keys But I don’t choose the path that you’re here to see In the silk of night, in the fire of day The steps you take, the words you say You’ve come this far, but now stick with me I keep the door open, the keeper of keys Singer of symbols, writer of songs You come seeking answers, but your journey’s still long You come for the silence, so the visions may come But some doors don’t open, not even my own In the silk of night, in the fire of day The steps you take, the words you say You’ve come this far, but now stick with me I keep the door open, the keeper of keys Traveler, self-chosen one You think you’re the only one All who seek must find their way Even the one who chooses to stay There’s a reason you’re on your own I call those who wander home I will show the safest way But to this place, I still remain In the silk of night, in the fire of day The steps you take, the words you say You’ve come this far, but now stick with me I keep the door open, the keeper of keys

Nachthexen 02:50
We witches have our broomsticks Allies call them paper planes For each has only canvas, wood And an engine to their names On moonless nights we fly On silent winds, we glide Our targets hear nothing but the wind When suddenly it’s raining fire When we are told we can’t be soldiers We take to the sky We will fly until our enemies smolder Night witches Nachthexen From us There’s no protection all is fair And this is war You never hear the one that gets you A silent night until the fire is next to you Leave naught but ashes in our wake Our enemies know their mistake Though we are told we can’t be soldiers We take to the sky We devastate all in a flash Night witches Nachthexen From us There’s no protection all is fair And this is war You cannot see us, you cannot hear us You cannot stop us, but you know to fear us Never send a soldier to do a witch’s work! Our work is done, our engines roar Back into the skies we soar Our spell is cast, our curse is set Our prey all pray we’d never met Though we are told we can’t be soldiers We take to the sky We devastate all in a flash Night witches Nachthexen From us There’s no protection all is fair And this is war

Solstice 03:16
The seeds are planted they’re growing strong The fruit trees bud as the days grew long We dance our feet on the drum of the mother Hand in hand we feed the light in each other Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Open yourself to the light at the break of day We each seek something in the coming of the dawn The seed we’ve planted more than just in the ground What will we reap from all that we’ve done What will we become ‘neath the midsummer sun? Pass around the sweet summer wine Pass around the sweet summer wine Pass around the sweet summer wine Pass around the sweet summer wine Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Open yourself to the light at the break of day Light in our hearts in our bodies, our spirits Light that we carry with us all year Light in our hearts in our bodies, our spirits We light the way we will never fear Our planting labors done The longest day has come Tonight we have our fun Here comes the sun! Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Leap through the fire don’t be afraid Open yourself to the light at the break of day

The universe is sometimes harsh So much out of control But sometimes the message is so clear And heavy enough to take a toll Caterpillars think that life is over Til they fly to new worlds It’s easy to think that winter is forever Until spring unfurls Where only moonlight touches Lay the secrets left unknown But their silent truth is held Within the snow The cold can hold us in our tracks But we make our own heat We make our own demons Our own villains to beat We’re each the sum of choices Most our own, though some are not We keep all that we choose to We keep fighting no matter what Where only moonlight touches Lay the secrets left unknown But their silent truth is held Within the snow Work hard, play harder Joy is the fiercest flame Fan it, let it roar within It doesn’t deserve to be be tamed We pick up the pieces Of those who came before We learn from their legacy In their footsteps in the snow We are more than our footprints But fill your with laughter So that you can still bring smile To those who follow after Where only moonlight touches Lay the secrets left unknown But their silent truth is held Within the snow Within the snow

Garden rows, tinkling bells Sparkly stones to play on But if harm should ever come to her Out come the nightmare guns Our lady love, she dreams us real And we love her right back But if you wanna date her, we better like you Or you’re not coming back! In the plumbing, in the walls Between the books and cracks We’re the eyes that you feel watching Just behind your back We love our dancing lady We’d follow her through hell And any who annoy our love We’ll take them there as well She dances in the firelight We dance within the flame She doesn’t know we live here, too But she somehow knows our name Small and wiley, dark and fast We’re legion through and through We love our dancing lady And you better love her, too! The trickster bird and the wizard Play music past midnight Jamming with Orpheus Past the early light They once lived in the window box But now in an old guitar Gathering the traveling tales Of their clan from near and far Tracing back the bunny clan The tree down to the root And when it’s done, every song’s been sung Orpheus passes on his lute Hair barrets go missing Keys just disappear A dream once filled with color Washes grey with darkest fear We’re eye for eye, tooth for tooth We’ll never be too tame For everyone who hurts her Is a target for our games Come dancing with our lady And we’ll never do you harm And we promise not to nip your toes If you leave a shiny charm And so we keep our lady safe To dance and sing each day But keep your darker thoughts from her Or we’ll come out to play In the plumbing, in the walls Between the books and cracks We’re the eyes that you feel watching Just behind your back Small and wiley, dark and fast We’re legion through and through We love our dancing lady And you better love her, too!
